Four Flat Whites In Italy SEP 2021.jpg

This Roger Hall comedy tells the story of two couples travelling around the country for their long-awaited OEs. Venice! Rome! Tuscany! With a copy of the Lonely Planet in one hand and an Italian phrase book in the other, recently retired librarians Adrian and Alison feel prepared to face the excitement of Italy in their long-awaited trip of a lifetime. But when their best friends suddenly drop out of the trip, are they really ready to share their precious holiday with their new neighbours, Harry and Judy? Travelling with your nearest and dearest is difficult enough…but with a couple you’ve only just met?

This is an OE you’ve been waiting for, but tensions can rise from sharing everything from the bathroom to the bill. And as for sharing the driving on the autostrada! With events from the past looming over their lives, and new excitements possibly just around the corner, the journey does indeed turn out to be the trip of a lifetime. Be prepared to laugh, groan and cry in equal measure as this wonderful, hilarious journey through Italy unfolds!

Director Rosie Hutchinson says “It’s great to be back directing again after all the disruption with Covid. The last play I directed was ‘Allo ‘Allo in 2019. We have some of the same cast together for this play as well as some new faces. It has been great to work together with Dianne Morgan and work with the cast to create the comedy and pathos of two couples traveling together through a series of mishaps and misadventure on a journey in Italy, to learn more about themselves.”

Harry. A retired businessman. Bluff, outspoken, right wing played by Frank Webb.
Judy. Harry’s second, younger wife. Outgoing and sexy played by Julia Mitchell.
Adrian. Recently retired librarian from the University. Uptight played by Dave Morgan.
Alison. Married to Adrian, also a librarian. Very uptight played by Lee-Anne Scarth
Supporting cast: John Wilkins, James Addis, John Burton, Susan Howard), Cathy Phelps, Kerrie.
